Manchester United have been boosted in their attempts to lure Wolfsburg’s Belgian playmaker Kevin De Bruyne to Old Trafford next summer, with the former Chelsea attacker refusing to rule out coming back to the Premier League.

The Red Devils, 11/4 with Coral for an FA Cup triumph, will be keen to bolster their attacking options, with a return to the Champions League looking likely next season, and De Bruyne seemingly open to a move back to England.

“I feel very much at home with Wolfsburg in this very moment,” said De Bruyne. “I am able to sign a new contract with Wolfsburg. But life in football can be fast moving.

“Football is much about money. Wolfsburg is not yet like Bayern Munich, of course. My biggest ambition is to come out for a big European club. One I can win trophies with. As much trophies as possible.”

The 23-year-old has made an incredible 16 assists across all competitions this current campaign in Germany, with United hoping a £30m bid can lure their target to the red half of Manchester.

Louis van Gaal’s European hopefuls currently sit in fourth spot, just a point ahead of Southampton, and have an FA Cup quarter-final against third-placed Arsenal to look forward to as well.

Brilliant Belgian Bundesliga forward De Bruyne only joined Die Wolfe last summer, after a miserable spell at Stamford Bridge, where he failed to break into the Blues first-team and was loaned out twice to former club Genk and then Werder Bremen.

However, this term the menacing attacker has been superb, starring in his side’s climb to second in the German top-flight, behind only champions Bayern Munich, after striking 13 times in all competitions.

The former Premier League playmaker has been a vital part of Wolfsburg’s rise to prominence this term, causing a flurry of speculation linking him with a return to England’s top division, with former employers Chelsea and Manchester City both also expressing an interest.

Despite only linking up with his new club in last summer’s transfer window, De Bruyne has refused to rule out another move later this year, with the Red Devils ready to bid for his services.

At Old Trafford, the talented forward would link-up with international teammates Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj, with the trio of Belgium stars having featured together at last year’s World Cup in Brazil.

Returning to Europe’s elite next season is Van Gaal’s main target this year, and his side are odds-on 5/6 to succeed by securing a top four finish this term.
