Serie A Preview: Can Napoli keep pressure on Juventus with Roma win?

| 26.10.2018

Tips and odds for this weekend’s Italian fixtures

After a hectic few days in Europe, it’s back to domestic duties this weekend. And in Serie A, the season rolls on to gameweek 10.

Napoli are looking to close down a four-point gap on leaders Juventus. They host Roma while third-placed Inter head to fourth place Lazio on Monday night.

We’ve previewed those two matches plus a selection of the other headline fixtures below…

Napoli v Roma

Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli were excellent for much of their game with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

They’ll have to play well again to beat Roma, who, despite losing to SPAL 2-0 last week, have won both of their last two visits to Naples.

Oddly, the away side has won the last four meetings between these two teams. Napoli are 3/4 favourites with Roma at 17/5.

Three of the last four meetings have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals come in. Both sides are seeing an average of 3.1 goals in their matches this season too, so more goals could be on the cards.

There’s 31/20 about over 3.5 goals, with 8/13 for both teams to score. Lorenzo Insigne is 4/1 favourite to score first, with Edin Dzeko leading Roma’s charge at 11/2.

Lazio v Inter

Monday’s clash between two sides who started the weekend in the top four could be the pick of the bunch.

Both teams have won six of their nine league games, with Inter ahead by a point. Home advantage sees Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio made favourites at 13/10, however, with Luciano Spalletti’s visitors at 2/1.

This will be a heated affair after May’s Champions League showdown. Inter scored twice in the final 12 minutes to bag the last spot, while a draw would have seen it go to Lazio.

That result saw both teams score for the seventh time in 10 meetings in all competitions. It’s 8/13 to happen again.

Over 2.5 goals have been scored in eight of those games, and there’s 3/4 about three goals or more on Monday evening.

Ciro Immobile is first goalscorer favourite at 4/1, just ahead of Inter’s Mauro Icardi at 5s.

Best of the rest

Juventus dropped their first points of the season last weekend, but bounced back with a majestic performance at Manchester United on Tuesday. The Old Lady are 1/4 to win away at struggling Empoli.

Torino are 29/20 to win at home to a Fiorentina side which has collected just one point on the road, while AC Milan are 8/15 to defeat a Sampdoria team currently boasting the tightest defence in the league.
