NFL Week 10 Preview: Titans’ revenge bid and Colts’ surprise surge

| 08.11.2018

Odds and look-ahead for the weekend’s Gridiron

It’s crunch time in the NFL this weekend. There’s a chance for Mike Vrabel and co. to get revenge for their playoff exit, while it’s do-or-die time for a host of playoff hopefuls.

Ahead of the Week 10 action, we take a look at the issues around three titanic clashes – and deliver the odds…

Can unfancied Colts race to Wild Card spot?

Recent years have been pretty fallow for Indianapolis Colts fans. They’ve not managed a winning season since 2014, and last year’s 4-12 record saw Chuck Pagano get the boot.

This year started in similarly poor form. But the Colts have suddenly found their footing in recent weeks, chalking up 113 points in the last three games. They’re now 3-5, just one win off second place – with the Wild Card spots a possibility.

They’re really starting to click, seeing off the Buffalo Bills by a 32-point margin in their last home clash. So this weekend’s clash with fellow AFC South rivals Jacksonville Jaguars (also 3-5) could have come at the ideal time.

The Colts are 4/6 in the Money Line against their divisional rivals. With each of their three wins so far this season coming by a margin of 13 points or more, the IND Colts -5.0 handicap is a 27/20 shot.

Titans have their shot at Patriots revenge

Tennessee Titans made a surprise run to the playoffs last season, but came unstuck in the AFC Divisional Final. Having led early against New England Patriots, they shipped 21 unanswered points in the second quarter – eventually losing 35-14.

After a wait of nearly 10 months, the Titans have a shot at revenge. They also have home advantage this time out. So can they grab the glory at Nissan Stadium?

The Titans’ recent home record has seen eight wins from 10 games, which should worry the Pats. But Bill Belichick’s side head to Nashville looking for a seventh successive victory.

New England have the better head-to-head record, but everything suggests the Titans will be more motivated than ever. This could be a thrilling, bruising encounter.

Will solid Panthers stop the rush against Steelers?

After a bumpy start to the season, Pittsburgh Steelers have now won four games on the spin. And it’s largely been thanks to running back James Conner.

The 23-year-old is one of just two players in the NFL to manage over 700 rushing yards so far this season.

Along the way, he’s recorded 37 first-downs and nine touchdowns, and almost single-handedly earned the recent win over Cleveland Browns.

However, they face their toughest test in some time against the 6-2 Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have one of the NFL’s top 10 defensive records this term, and are eyeing up back-to-back away wins after victory in Philadelphia.

The odds have Pittsburgh as 4/9 favourites, with Carolina a 7/4 shot. Chances are there won’t be much between these sides, and CAR Panthers +6.5 is available at 8/13.
