Sunday’s FA Cup Betting Tips: Wolves and Palace primed for Cupsets?

Betting preview and odds for today’s TV ties

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace will both be hoping to avoid an upset this afternoon as the FA Cup 5th round edges towards its conclusion.

The Eagles make the trip to League One side Doncaster Rovers, while Wolves take on Championship high-flyers Bristol City. Add in an all second-tier clash between Swansea City and Brentford and we’re all set for a big day of cup action.

Bristol City v Wolverhampton Wanderers (1pm, BT Sport 2)

Wolves had enough trouble getting past Shrewsbury Town in the last round. A trip to Bristol City should prove a much tougher affair. The Robins have made a habit of embarrassing Premier League opponents in recent years, after all.

Manchester United, Stoke City, Huddersfield Town and Palace have all fallen by the wayside at Ashton Gate in the last 24 months. And with Lee Johnson’s men on a 15-match unbeaten run – winning their last nine in all competitions – the visitors are going to have their work cut out here.

City are 7/2 for a cup upset, with 12/5 about the draw and 19/20 on the Double Chance. Powerful forward Famara Diedhiou is 13/5 for his tenth goal of the season, ahead of Andreas Weimann at 16/5.

Nuno Espirito Santo will name a strong side for the trip to the West Country, although there could be space for Adama Traore, who is usually used from the bench. His pace will terrify the City defence and we make him 21/10 Anytime.

Doncaster Rovers v Crystal Palace (4pm, BBC 1)

The temptation to rest players will be strong for Roy Hodgson. The Eagles remain just three points above the Premier League drop-zone and face a crucial run of matches over the next few weeks.

That could let in bang in-form Doncaster. Grant McCann’s men have lost just twice since mid-November and have won eight of their last 10 games at the Keepmoat Stadium.

They’ll be bang up for this one and while their 17/4 win odds may be slightly optimistic, the 5/4 about the Double Chance isn’t. Hotshot John Marquis is 21/10 to snare his 23rd goal of the season, while Michy Batshuayi should get his first start for Palace and is 8/5 to open his Eagles account.

Swansea City v Brentford (4pm, BBC Wales)

Life after Dean Smith initially proved tough going for Brentford. But after losing to Swansea City in December, Thomas Frank’s men subsequently won seven of their 13 matches, drawing four.

Away form is still a problem for the Bees, though. That could spell bad news at a venue where the West Londoners are winless. That’s without the Swans being unbeaten in five at the Liberty.

The Coral traders have the hosts down as 13/8 favourites, and 19/5 to prevail with Both Teams to Score in a match which shouldn’t be short of goals. Oliver McBurnie is rated the likeliest chance to find the net at 6/4, ahead of Courtney Baker-Richardson at 11/5.
