Ten Sovereigns backed for 2000 Guineas glory
Latest odds and betting for the 2000 Guineas
After the announcement that Ryan Moore would mount Ten Sovereigns for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday, the three-year-old colt is now the outright favourite to ride to victory.
His odds have shortened to 10/3 despite being 5/1 second-favourite prior to the announcement of who would be saddling up. Stablemate Magna Grecia was the favourite at the start of the week, but now sits as second-favourite at 5/1.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained pair still remain ahead of the rest of the field, with Madhmoon and Skardu best placed to challenge for the front at 7/1.
“At the start of the week Ten Sovereigns had taken a walk in the market out to 5/1, with Magna Grecia the clear market leader, but since Ryan Moore was confirmed as the former’s big race rider, he’s been all the rage with punters and now looks certain to be sent off favourite,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
In the 1000 Guineas on Sunday, Qabala remains the favourite to win at 3/1 ahead of Skitter Scatter at 5/1 after 15 runners were declared for the fillies’ Classic.
Fairyland, Just Wonderful and Iridessa remain just behind the two favourites at 8s.
“Qabala leapt to the head of the 1,000 Guineas betting with a decisive victory in the Nell Gwyn Stakes last month, and only Skitter Scatter looks likely to challenge her position as favourite now,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
