Jim Crowley: “I hope we’ve found a good opportunity for Zeyaadah”
Coral ambassador previews his Saturday ride in France
I’m off on my travels this weekend with Zeyaadah running in a Group 2 at Deauville on Saturday.
She’s always been a filly I’ve liked and came into this season unbeaten in her three starts as a two-year-old.
Her only disappointing race this year was in the Oaks but the softer ground and the mile-and-a-half trip that day just found her out.
She’s since bounced back to form over the shorter 10-furlong trip, winning a Group 3 at Newcastle before finishing a really good second to Lady Bowthorpe in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, which looks top-class form [Lady Bowthorpe is favourite for Sunday’s Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville].
It’s not easy to compare her form with the form of the French-trained fillies but the Andre Fabre pair, Noticeable Grace and Babylone, have to be particularly respected.
But my filly will benefit from taking on her own age group again and this mile-and-a-quarter trip is her best trip in my opinion, so the good to soft going shouldn’t hinder her.
I hope we’ve found a good opportunity for her to add to her winning tally and although we’ll take it one race at a time, if it went well for her this weekend a race like the Prix de l’Opera on Arc weekend could become a target.
