Coral ambassador previews the Tizzard yard’s Saturday rides

13.30 Doncaster – Eldorado Allen

He ran a bit flat last time but he’s been training really well and seems back to his best. The ground looks pretty testing but he won’t mind that.

We’ve had this race in mind for him for some time, but we know we’ll have to go some to beat Shishkin. We are really looking forward to running him and I’m sure he’s going to run well.

15.15 Doncaster – Mister Malarky

He was really impressive at Ascot, but is now on a career high mark of 156 as a result. There are only 13 runners in the field, so it’s not the full field you’d normally expect in this race, and Jonjo has ridden him in big handicap chases before, so he knows the horse well. He’s a hard horse to catch right but he’s got the ability to run well in this.

We gave him an entry in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham as if he was to win this and go up a rating in the 160s you’d have to consider it. The owners are keen to have some fun with him, and he’ll also get an entry in the Grand National too.

Joe Tizzard

Former Jump jockey Joe Tizzard enjoyed a stellar career in the saddle, with his record 91 wins to claim the 1998-99 champion conditional title gaining him prominence. Tizzard’s first Cheltenham Festival successes came during that period, including an Arkle win onboard the Paul Nicholls trained Flagship Uberalles. However, it was his Grade 1 victories in partnership with Cue Card, trained by dad Colin, which really catapulted Joe into the big time. Now assistant trainer to his father the Tizzards’ Dorset yard is home to some of the most exciting horses in training, including Cue Card, Thistlecrack and Native River.
