Joe Tizzard: “Slate House should have a good chance”
Coral ambassador previews the Tizzard yard’s weekend runners
13:15 Kempton – White Moon
He’s on a bit of a comeback mission this season that’s why we are sticking with him over hurdles. He had a bit of a back issue last year. He likes the nicer ground and he should be competitive. We just need to get a couple of runs into him to improve his confidence.
15:35 Kempton – Mister Malarky & Slate House
Slate House probably has the best chance of the two. He is a Grade One winner around Kempton and I think he will love the ground. It’s going to be an ultra-competitive handicap chase this race so it’s no easy task. He is off a mark where he should have a good chance though.
Mister Malarky won this race 12 months ago. He is now off a mark of 155 following his victory at Ascot earlier this season. He puts a lot into it and he has a lot of ability. He tends to win at least one big race every season but you just never know when that is going to be. Harry Kimber will take 7lb off his back which does help.
15:10 Fontwell – Reserve Tank
He was injured at Cheltenham last year so this is very much a comeback run. He has done plenty at home but we are expecting him to come on for this run. This looks a lovely little race for him to start with as there are not many runners. We will probably stay over hurdle with him next season and aim for Aintree.
16:10 Fontwell – Katahdin
He has been knocking on the door recently. He ran well at Southwell two starts back where he was beaten by just a nose. He didn’t run badly at Plumpton last time. He will handle the ground and be in with a chance.
He has come out of his race fine. He didn’t bleed, which is good. I think it was purely a fitness thing with him. He had his wind operation after the King George and I think he just needed a run badly. There are a lot of positives to take out of the race. He travelled well and was in with a chance three out and just got tired. We are very positive about him going forward.
