Joe Tizzard: “The Big Breakaway won’t be far away”

Coral ambassador previews the Tizzard yard’s Sunday runners

13.15: The Big Breakaway

We are really excited about running him. He was due to run at Newbury last week but the ground was too quick so we didn’t want to take the risk. We toyed with leaving it a week and going to Exeter but Robbie Power schooled him on Wednesday and we asked him if he had any concerns about going to Cheltenham and he said: “None at all.” He actually schooled upsides Slate House and was taking lengths out of him.

There are only six runners which is ideal. It’s no walk-in-the-park, but we want that. If he can have a nice clear round then he won’t be far away.

13.50: West Approach

He ran a blinder behind Frodon. He ran a super race. He gets an extra furlong and he’s had the benefit of the run, so it looks like he’ll start favourite for this and he deserves to be. He doesn’t win very many, but he’s consistent and he loves Cheltenham. Harry Cobden seems to get a good tune out of him so he should have every chance of winning.

12.25: Furkash

He ran a nice third first time out for us, and he takes on the winner that day again here, but he’s got a seven-pound penalty which gives us a chance. He’s a nice horse. We were chuffed with his first run and we are looking forward to see what step forward he’s taken from that. It’s a small field but it’s not an easy race.

15.15: Christmas In April

The 3m 4f round here will suit him down to a tee. He was really progressive in staying chases last year. We have had this race pencilled in for him for some time, and he seems in really good form at home.
