Finland v Wales betting tips: Dragons caught in friendly fire
Preview and odds for Wednesday’s friendly international
Wales prepare for their World Cup qualifying campaign with a friendly in Helsinki so we have looked at the odds to find some Finland v Wales betting tips.
This is Wales’ first game since being knocked out of Euro 2020 in the round of 16 by Denmark while Finland are back in action having failed to get out of their group.
Wednesday’s match, which takes place at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, kicks off at 5pm BST.
Finland v Wales match odds
Ahead of World Cup qualifying games against Belarus and Estonia, Wales head to Helsinki as 8/5 shots to beat Finland.
Rob Page’s side face an arduous trip to Minsk to take on Belarus on Sunday before returning home to play Estonia three days later.
Wales lost their opening World Cup qualifying Group E clash 3-1 to Belgium but came from behind to beat the Czech Republic 2-1 with strikes from Daniel James and Connor Roberts.
They head to Helsinki on the back of a good Euro 2020 campaign, which saw them beat Turkey (2-0), draw with Switzerland and lose to eventual champions Italy (1-0) in the group stage before slipping to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of semi-finalists Denmark in the round of 16.
Finland are also using this as preparation for two World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan on Saturday and France next Tuesday.
They opened their qualifying campaign with a pair of draws against Bosnia and Herzegovina (2-2) and Ukraine (1-1).
This will be the first clash for the Finns since they failed to get out of their Euro 2020 group. Despite beating semi-finalists Denmark 1-0, they subsequently fell to Russia (1-0) and Belgium (2-0).
Finland v Wales head-to-head
Wales faced Finland twice in 2020 during their successful Nations League campaign, winning on both occasions.
Wales have won six of their 14 previous meetings, losing four times, and are 2/5 to win or draw the game in the Double Chance market.
Seven of their 14 previous encounters saw both sides score, including three of the last four, and it is 19/20 that both sides find the net this time in the Finland v Wales betting tips.
Six of those clashes yielded three goals or more in total and it is 13/10 this occurs again.
Wales have never beaten Finland in three successive meetings but have only once failed to score in five previous trips to Finland. It is 5/1 the hosts win but concede.
Finland v Wales team news
Aaron Ramsey is unavailable for Wales with a thigh strain but could be back for the Estonia clash.
Swansea defenders Roberts and Ben Cabango are ruled out with a groin injury and Covid-19 respectively.
Finland v Wales key battles
Norwich striker Teemu Pukki, who has 30 goals in 94 internationals for Finland, will be a handful for the Wales defenders and is 21/10 to score at any time.
Likewise, LA Galaxy defender Niko Hamalainen is inexperienced with just four starts for Finland. How he copes against Gareth Bale (pictured above) will be an interesting dynamic should he get the nod.
