Man City v Norwich betting tips: Canaries in a flap

Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash

Premier League champions Manchester City host promoted Norwich on Saturday and we have examined the odds for some Man City v Norwich betting tips.

Pep Guardiola’s side will look to bounce back from Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Spurs while the Canaries were beaten by Liverpool on their return to the top flight and face another big test.

Saturday’s match, which takes place at the Etihad Stadium, kicks off at 3pm BST.

Man City v Norwich match odds

Guardiola’s side are the Premier League’s biggest favourites for the weekend matches at odds of 1/9.

Son Heung-min scored the only goal in the second half in a counter attack while City squandered a couple of early opportunities.

Not even debutant £100million signing Jack Grealish could prevent them from slipping to defeat.

But a defending Premier League champion has lost just two of the last 58 home Premier League games against promoted teams (W48 D8) – Liverpool at home to Fulham last season and Chelsea at the hands of Burnley (2017-18).

Goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah meant Norwich started the season with an emphatic defeat at home to Liverpool and the Canaries are 25/1 to win at the Etihad.

Man City drew five games last season in the Premier League and the draw is on offer at 9/1 in the Man City v Norwich betting tips.

Man City v Norwich head-to-head

Manchester City have won their last three home Premier League games against Norwich by an aggregate score of 14-1, winning 5-0 in the most recent league meeting at the Etihad in July 2020.

They are 19/10 to win but concede this time and 4/6 to win the match to nil.

Norwich have won just two of their last 31 visits to Manchester City (D7 L22), prevailing 2-1 in September 1997 and 3-2 in May 2013. They are 6/1 to either win or draw the game on the Double Chance market.

Daniel Farke’s Norwich did beat Guardiola’s side 3-2 at Carrow Road in their previous top-flight campaign but their record on the road was not good – they won one, drew three and lost 15 of their away matches and are 14/1 to win on the Draw No Bet market.

They conceded an average of two goals per game in those fixtures and it is 13/10 that Man City score four goals or more this week.

Man City v Norwich team-news

Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for Man City, but Ilkay Gundogan is set to be available.

Playmaker De Bruyne, who came off the bench in the loss at Tottenham, has been recovering from an ankle injury.

Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference on Friday: “Everybody is fit, except Phil Foden (who has a foot injury), and Kevin has a little problem still with his ankle.

“Tomorrow we’ll see how he feels.”

De Bruyne has scored three goals in four appearances against Norwich. He is 4/1 to be the first scorer in the Man City v Norwich betting tips.

Norwich have no major injury concerns, although exciting youngster Christos Tzolis, who arrived from POAK in the summer, is likely to remain on the bench.

Man City v Norwich key battles

Man City have lost their last three matches in all competitions without scoring a single goal.

Guardiola has never lost four consecutive games in his managerial career, nor seen his sides go four games in a row without scoring.

City’s biggest test will be how to find a way of breaching the Canaries, who are likely to sit back and frustrate the champions. It is 1/2 the hosts score in each half in the Man City v Norwich betting tips.

Yet Norwich have lost their last 11 Premier League matches and have failed to score in 10 of those. It is 3/5 that Man City keep a clean sheet.
