Man City v RB Leipzig betting tips: City bid to go one better
Preview and odds for Wednesday’s Champions League clash
Champions League runners-up Manchester City begin their European campaign against German opposition and we have examined the odds to bring you some Man City v RB Leipzig betting tips.
City were favourites to win last season’s final in Porto but lost 1-0 to Chelsea while Leipzig were knocked out by Liverpool at the Round of 16 stage.
Wednesday’s game takes place at the Etihad Stadium and is live on BT Sport 3, with an 8pm BST kick-off.
Man City v RB Leipzig match odds
Manchester City had a golden opportunity to win last season’s competition but fluffed their lines when it mattered as Chelsea’s Kai Havertz netted a decisive 42nd-minute winner in Porto.
City have started their Premier League campaign brightly, with Saturday’s 1-0 win at Leicester moving them on to nine points from four games.
They are 7/2 second favourites in the Champions League winner odds behind PSG (10/3) and Pep Guardiola’s side will be determined to add to their tally of 49 Champions League wins (from 90 games (D16 L25). They are 3/10 to defeat Leipzig.
Runners-up in the Bundesliga last season, Leipzig have lost three of their opening four domestic games in the current campaign and will face an uphill struggle to get out of Champions League Group A, which also includes PSG and Club Brugge.
They do have some exciting players, however, such as 18-year-old midfielder Ilaix Moriba, who joined the club last week form Barcelona in a 16million euro deal, a move which could see RB Leipzig’s Spain international Dani Olmo, who graduated through the Barcelona youth ranks, make a return to the Catalan club in due course.
Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last 17 games in the group stage of the Champions League (W14 D3), with their last defeat coming against Lyon in September 2018.
RB Leipzig have lost three of their previous four away games in this competition and failed to score in three defeats, including a pair of them to English sides Manchester United (5-0) and Liverpool (2-0). They are 9/1 to beat City while the draw is on offer at 17/4.
RB Leipzig are 12/5 to either win or draw the game in the Double Chance market in the Man City v RB Leipzig betting tips.
