Leicester v Tottenham betting tips: Faltering Foxes need favours

| 22.05.2021

Preview and odds for Sunday’s match

Leicester have dropped out of the Champions League places down the final straight and a win against Tottenham may not be enough to secure a top-four finish.

The midweek defeat against Chelsea saw the Foxes slip to fifth and they will have one eye on results elsewhere as they look to do their bit by beating Spurs.

Sunday’s match is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at 4pm as we highlight a few potential Leicester v Tottenham betting tips.

Leicester v Tottenham match odds

Both of these teams head into the final game with European ambitions which were rocked by midweek losses.

Leicester may have beaten Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley but it was a different story at Stamford Bridge as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat despite Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal giving them hope.

The Foxes have lost four of their last eight matches and have a dismal home record against current top-half teams, taking just seven points from eight games.

Leicester are favourites at evens but have already been beaten at the King Power Stadium by Manchester City, West Ham, Everton, Arsenal and Leeds, as well as 11th-placed Aston Villa.

Tottenham are 5/2 to join that list and secure a Europa Conference League place, while they can leapfrog West Ham into sixth if the Hammers lose at home to Southampton.

A draw is unlikely to be of any use to either team and is priced up at 27/10.

Leicester v Tottenham head-to-head

The long odds on a draw can also be explained by the fact that there has been a winner in the last eight meetings between these teams.

Honours were even last season with a home win apiece but Leicester are now looking to do the double over Tottenham having triumphed 2-0 in north London in December.

Jamie Vardy’s penalty and a Toby Alderweireld own goal saw Brendan Rodgers get one over his former mentor Jose Mourinho and send his side second in the table but they have been unable to maintain that momentum in the closing few weeks of the season.

Leicester have now gone five league games without a clean sheet and both teams to score can be backed at 8/15.

Previous XI

Leicester vs Tottenham - Football tactics and formations
Leicester: Schmeichel, Fofana, Soyuncu, Castagne, Thomas, Tielemans, Maddison, Albrighton, Ndidi, Vardy, Perez.

Tottenham: Lloris, Reguilon, Alderweireld, Tanganga, Hojbjerg, Winks, Dier, Alli, Son, Kane, Bergwijn.

Key battles

Harry Kane Premier League

Harry Kane will have extra motivation to end the season on a high. He is level on 22 goals with Golden Boot rival Mo Salah, while this could prove to be his last game for the club if a potential summer transfer goes through.

The absence of Jonny Evans makes his task easier but he wasted two good chances in the reverse fixture and Kasper Schmeichel showed in the cup final what a top-class goalkeeper he is.

Kane is 6/4 to get on the scoresheet and 4/1 to open the scoring.
