Watford v Liverpool betting tips: Ranieri faces baptism of fire
Preview and odds for Saturday’s Premier League clash
Second-placed Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road for an early start on Saturday, so we have looked at the odds to find some Watford v Liverpool betting tips.
Despite being held at home by Manchester City, Liverpool remain unbeaten in the Premier League after seven games, while Watford will hope to do better after slipping up at Elland Road last time.
Saturday’s match, which takes place at Vicarage Road, is live on BT Sport and kicks off at 12.30pm.
Watford v Liverpool match odds
This is something of a baptism of fire for Claudio Ranieri, who led Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016.
He replaced Xisco Munoz as Watford head coach last week and the 69-year-old Italian inherits a club 15th in the table with seven points from seven league games since being promoted back to the top flight.
Watford opened the campaign with victory over Aston Villa and also won 3-1 at fellow promoted side Norwich before Munoz’s departure, and they are 8/1 to beat Liverpool.
Ranieri has won four of his five Premier League home games against Liverpool, losing the other. He has the highest home win rate against the Reds in Premier League history.
However, the last four managers to face Liverpool in their first game in charge of a club in the Premier League have all lost.
After losing six of seven Premier League games between February and March, Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 17 in the top flight (W12 D5).
They are 1/3 to take all three points and have been scoring for fun, particularly on the road. They have scored three goals in each of their last four away games in the league and put five past Porto in their last Champions League road game.
Jurgen Klopp’s men could also become the first ever English top-flight side to score three or more goals in seven consecutive away games in all competitions. They are 6/5 to score over 2.5 goals on Saturday in the Watford v Liverpool betting tips.

Watford v Liverpool head-to-head
This is the first Premier League meeting between Watford and Liverpool since February 2020, when the Hornets won 3-0 to end the Reds’ club-record 44-game unbeaten league run, and their joint Premier League record 18-game winning streak.
Liverpool have never lost back-to-back league games against the Hornets, who ended Liverpool’s eight-game unbeaten run league against them last time.
Watford have won four of the last 28 meetings with Liverpool and are 11/5 to win or draw the game on the Double Chance market in the Watford v Liverpool betting tips.
Six of the seven Premier League meetings between Watford and Liverpool at Vicarage Road have seen at least one team score three goals and it is 4/7 that there will be three or more total goals scored this time.
Watford v Liverpool key battles
Ranieri’s first task will be to plug the leaky defence. Watford have conceded at least once in each of their last 17 Premier League games, since beating Liverpool 3-0 in February 2020. They are 8/1 to keep a clean sheet in the Watford v Liverpool betting tips.
That is not easy with the likes of Mohamed Salah up against them. The Egyptian has scored in each of his last seven appearances in all competitions for Liverpool and will be of interest in the anytime scorer markets.
