Preview and odds for Thursday’s Europa League clash

West Ham have made a solid start to their Europa League campaign and travel to Belgium this week as we look at the odds for some Genk v West Ham betting tips.

The Hammers have won all three of their Group H games, while Genk will be keen to upset the odds after being beaten at the London Stadium.

Thursday’s match, which takes place at the Cristal Arena, kicks off at 5.45pm and is live on BT Sport 3.

Genk v West Ham match odds

West Ham top Group H with nine points and realistically already have one foot in the knockout phase. They are now 10/1 favourites to win the Europa League.

Each of the other three teams in their group have three points from their three games, with Genk bottom of the pile with a minus-five goal differential.

Genk opened their campaign with a 1-0 win at Rapid Vienna, but lost subsequently to Dinamo Zagreb (3-0 at home) and to West Ham (3-0 away).

Their form since being beaten at the London Stadium on October 21 has been good. Aside from a 3-0 home defeat by Gent, they put six past Wiknkel Sport in the Belgian Cup and six past Zulte Wardgem in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday to sit seventh in their domestic table, eight points behind the leaders after 13 games.

Genk, who have lost their last four home matches in all European competition, are 13/5 to win this return fixture.

West Ham have been enjoying a solid start to the season. They have won their last three Premier League games – including Sunday’s 4-1 win at Aston Villa – have reached the last eight of the League Cup, and sit fourth in the table, just five points behind leaders Chelsea.

They have won all three games in the Europa League, with wins at Dinamo Zagreb (2-0), and home victories over Rapid Vienna (2-0) and Genk (3-0). They are evens to win this clash and it is 21/10 that they keep another clean sheet.

The draw is available at odds of 13/5 in the Genk v West Ham betting tips.

Genk v West Ham head-to-head

This will be only West Ham’s second trip to Belgium in all European competitions after a 1-0 win over KAA Gent back in September 1964 in the Cup Winners’ Cup first round, with Ron Boyce scoring the winner.

They did, however, lose to Belgian side Anderlecht in the 1976 Cup Winners’ Cup final.

Having beaten Dinamo Zagreb on the road, David Moyes’ side are looking to win consecutive away games in Europe for the first time since September 1999 (three games).

Genk v West Ham key battles

Moyes could be forgiven for looking ahead to Sunday, when the Hammers face Liverpool at the London Stadium. It seems possible that some fringe players will get an opportunity against Genk, with the hard work all but done in the first three games.

However, Genk will still be mindful of the Hammers’ ability to score from set-pieces and the hosts have conceded more goals via set-pieces than any other side in the Europa League this season (four).

The Hammers have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five games in all competitions and are 14/5 to win to nil in Genk v West Ham betting tips, while a 0-0 draw is available at odds of 12/1.
