Horse Racing Trader’s Tips: US Racing Preview – Monday 6th April

| 06.04.2020

Our trader Mark Underhill makes his selections ahead of today’s racing action

Racing is thriving across the pond, filling the void in the absence of meetings in the UK and Ireland.

And with 10 races set to take place at Will Rogers Downs today, we’ve taken a look at the key jockeys to look out for.

Will Rogers Downs

Monday sees the ninth card of Will Rogers Downs’ Spring Meeting, with the first of 10 races set to get underway at 19:15.

Floyd Wethey Jr. and Ty Kennedy have dominated the meeting so far, riding 23 winners between them, with each finishing in the top three in more than half their rides. Both jockeys have a strong book of rides tonight.

Wethey Jr. secured a treble last Tuesday to take his Will Rogers Downs tally to 11 wins this year. Four of his five rides tonight are for the track’s leading trainer Scott E. Young, who has also secured 11 wins during the Spring Meeting.

They team up with three-year-old filly Long Ride Home in the 20:45, renewing the partnership that won here over this distance three weeks ago. She won’t need to improve much to win this claimer ahead of her more exposed rivals.

Meanwhile, Kennedy has six booked mounts, with Emily’s Pegasus the pick of the bunch in the 21:45. She’s the daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus and is trained by Robertino Diodoro, who boasts a strike rate of more than 28% at Will Rogers Downs this year, with nine winners from 32 runners.

With four top-two finishes in her last five starts, Emily’s Pegasus was successful under Kennedy on her most recent run, which was her first start at Will Rogers Downs.

Floyd Wethey Jr.  booked rides: Affirmatif Song (20:15), Long Ride Home (20:45), Sheza Rockstar (21:15), Daisy Can (22:45), Drip Brew (23:15)

Ty Kennedy booked mounts: Nocturan Mission (19:15), Magically Honored (21:15), Emily’s Pegasus (21:45), Absolute Love (22:15), Leighton Kentucky (22:45), Wholehearted (23:15)
