Horse Racing Trader’s Tips: Will Rogers Downs – Monday 27th April

| 27.04.2020

Our trader Ian Rozzier previews tonight’s racing action

Tonight sees Will Rogers Downs host the 18th card of their Spring Meeting, with the first of 10 races set to get underway at 19:15.

And our expert has taken a look at the best of the action in Oklahoma.

The Miranda Diana Stakes at 23:15 is the feature race of the evening, with $55,000 up for grabs. Spring Steen is hoping for a repeat of her 2019 success, but there are question marks over her form after a disrupted preparation.

She coasted to a nine-length victory a year ago but comes into Monday’s renewal of the sprint race on the back of disappointing return in the Wilma Makiller Stakes at the beginning of the month. It looks a deeper race than last year and Spring Steen will face stiff competition from Three Chords, who starts at Will Rogers Downs for the first time.

She’s won twice in Oklahoma-bred stakes company at Remington Park, including the 2019 Okalhoma Classics Distaff Sprint.

The Spring Meeting has so far been dominated by jockeys Floyd Wethey Jr. and Ty Kennedy, who have 46 winners between them and have both finished in the money on over half their mounts.

Wethey Jr’s best chance looks to be with Our Vision in the 20:15, while Kennedy should finish well with Stephen’s Answer in the 20:45, who is under the stewardship of the meet’s leading trainer Robertino Diodoro.

Floyd Wethey Jr.  booked mounts: Awesome Gordo (19:15), Nurse List (19:45), Our Vision (20:15), Deep Explorer (20:45), Chiron Eclipse (21:15), Daneira (22:15) Fiddlers Tsunami (23:15)

Ty Kennedy booked mounts: Survey (19:15), Final Design (19:45), Stephen’s Answer (20:45) Fool’s Paradise (22:45)
