Rocket Mortgage Classic betting tips: DeChambeau favourite to defend title
Preview and odds for this week’s PGA Tour event
Bryson DeChambeau returns to defend his title and we pick out some Rocket Mortgage Classic betting tips as the world number six looks to secure his second victory of the 2021 PGA Tour season.
The big-hitting American has struggled for form in recent weeks, carding one top-10 finish in seven events at the Wells Fargo Championship since the Masters in April.
The course at Detroit Golf Club plays over 7,370 yards which should aid DeChambeau’s bid, as well as the fact that none of the world’s top five are competing while Rory McIlroy is in Europe for the Irish Open.
DeChambeau, who leads the driving distance stats with an average drive of 322.4 yards, is 15/2 favourite in the Rocket Mortgage Classic odds to successfully defend his crown in Michigan.
Wolff ready to howl?
The tournament was one of the first events during the return to golf in 2020 after the global health crisis locked down the calendar, when DeChambeau transformed himself into the biggest hitter on tour before going on to win by three shots over Matthew Wolff.
Wolff maintained his strong run of form in 2020 after his second-placed finish in Detroit by recording fourth at the 2020 US PGA Championship, runner-up to DeChambeau once again at the US Open and second at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
His results started to slide before he decided to take two months away from the sport to focus on his mental health earlier this year.
He returned at the 2021 US Open and finished in a tie for 15th and will want to continue that momentum. Wolff is 22/1 to claim his first title since the 3M Open in July 2019 and is worth considering in Rocket Mortgage Classic betting tips.
Reed all about it
Patrick Reed has posted solid results in 2021 and arrives in Michigan on the hunt for a 10th professional victory.
He has missed only four cuts from 17 events in the calendar year to date, winning at the Farmers Insurance Open in January in what was the first of five top-10 results.
The 2018 Masters champion is the second-favourite at 12/1 and is not the only major winner who could be in contention this week in Detroit.
Former champion to shine?
Nate Lashley won the inaugural title at this event in 2019 despite failing to qualify for the tournament on the Monday, gaining his place as an alternate and the final man in the field.
He went on to claim his maiden PGA Tour title by six shots and could be an outside shot in Rocket Mortgage Classic betting tips at 100/1 to regain his crown.
